Hello and greetings I am Zahra Hadian Shirazi, an assistant professor of pediatrics and neonatal nursing at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Iran. I have worked as a nurse in pediatric wards and neonatal intensive care units for over 20 years. I have been teaching theory and practice to undergraduate nursing, graduate pediatric, and neonatal intensive care students for about 10 years. As a nursing researcher, I have authored numerous quantitative and qualitative articles in pediatric wards and conducted a study on chronic pain in adolescents. I have also conducted quantitative studies to relieve pain in neonates and children during nursing procedures. In the field of chronic pain, we identified the predictive role of self-esteem, parenting styles, and emotional intelligence on chronic pain in adolescents in a student thesis. In that thesis I worked as advisor. In another research, as a main researcher by training nurses in the field of endotracheal tube suctioning in neonatal intensive care units, we were able to reduce severe and moderate pain to mild pain in intubated neonates. Also, in establishing an intravenous line in hospitalized school-age children by squeezing a stress ball or blowing on a spinning we could reduce the childs pain and anxiety. Articles related to that research have been published.
